Back to the knotty pine room tales
Back to the days of skinned knees and pigtails
Let me refresh your memory here
This room was made for my brothers' dear
But they were much older than I
So off they went and the room became mine
Many happy memories attained
And many happy times playing games
This room was at the end of a long hall
And the room itself was not very small
So it became our bowling alley
Or a sailing pirate ships galley
We'd put some furniture wax down on the floor
And slide down the hallway through the door
See who could end up closest to the wall
Without hitting or a great big fall
When it rained outside
In we'd come and all would hide
No one ever found me
They all wondered how I was never seen
You see my brother's has a train set
My Dad made a trap door inset
Passing from one closet to the next
It left the hunters all vexed
That knotty pine room was so grand
Lent for the best imagination in the land
Aren't the good old days a wonderful thing
Especially the happy memories they bring
