Miss P and Mr P
always perch separately -
she on the rubbish bin,
he on the balcony.

Miss P and Mr P
turn their backs emphatically,
preen themselves singularly,
poop away contentedly.

BUT LAST SPRING...

Miss P and Mr P
sang in feathered harmony,
brightly in the key of D -
'A girl for you a boy for me'
and four fat fledglings* followed.
