Gently gently my sweetest summer rose,
Give your fragrance and new tints of beauty;
So much pleasure - never in overdose,
Lovely symphony of shades - in tutti!
There's no one like you: sweet rose in the bloom,
Recondite and dark in the summer mood;
The green of the earth, is your guide and groom,
Continue to give joy, further elude.
Settle only for pleasures to adore,
Before the tones of your bloom withers on;
Even though in next year's time, there'll be more
Colours and shadings in the summer’s dawn.
What will be lost into the glimpsing past,
Should in memories forever though last.
