Come winter and make me your silent shadow
As you whiten the weathering woods.
Take captive my breath,
And freeze my heart
As you dampen the flowered fields.
Drape me in gossamer fabric,
And make me your martyrdom queen.
Weave me a throne of snow and ice
Between the hidden trees
To discard my thoughts and wasted dreams.
Construct a crown of the purest ice
To place upon my head.
Willfully make me follow you.
Bathe me in the whitest light
To strip me to my purest form.
Show me the ghost I've become
And the reason why winter is my shroud.
Flow through my body
And lift me above the frozen trees.
Show me why winter is my decadence.
Then take me down to the darkest, coldest shadow
And show me why I've become winter's ghost,
Why I belong to winter.
