If you are born a wealthy man,
Never talk ill of the beggar;
If you are bred in poverty,
Don’t curse the rich in power;
Ask God to change your fate or state;
’Tis God who judges all.
If you are born talents great,
Never look down upon those without;
If you are born an idiot,
Pray God to give you better brains;
Don’t curse yourself; don’t curse others;
’Tis God who judges all.
If you are born of good parents,
Don’t sneer at the orphans in streets;
If you are born a bastard child,
Don’t take to acts of crime and vice;
God has a plan for everyone;
’Tis God who judges all.
If you remain a virgin good;
Never make fun of those who can’t;
If you have turned adulterous,
Don’t run down those who are chaste;
God loves / redeems each soul He made;
’Tis God who judges all.
