The idea of a grassy square,
making a part of a city
into a small town,

one of our great gifts
from Spanish culture.

Here the little meadow,
so flat and spring-green,
turns the neighborhood
into heaven, lending charm
to the nearby office plaza
with its fountain
and to every cafe looking out,

and besides the kids
and families
and dogs
you can see here,

all the Saints,
hover nearby, too —
close your eyes,
you can feel them.
