For the past five miserable nights
I have been without electricity
My eyes and senses have become
acute and well adjusted to the dark
I have had to hunt for food
like a wild and edacious animal
and thirst for water
as there was not a bite to eat
or a potable dropp to drink
in what remains of my
once beautiful and healthy home
Broken glass now sticks in my feet
as I pace the kitchen floor
The stench of spoiled condiments
lingers in the air while
crazed neighbors feed the dogs
Splintered tree limbs scrape
like chalk on the blackboard of my soul
My brain is fully saturated
by relentless wind and drenching rain
My blood changes types and color
from the tenebrous and horror filled twilight
of my storm filled life
A+ positive and blue to O- negative and red
I howl like a wolf.....
alone yet not afraid of the dark____
