She enjoyed walking at night
And while others might feel fear
Or imagine the boogyman
She was strong and confident
She felt equally comfortable
Walking past cozy windows
Or hiking through
A wooded path
She loved walking at a good clip
Feeling the breeze on her face
Tunes playing on her MP3 player
Life was good!
There was no way that she could have known, really
No way at all
Having been on days off
She hadn't seen the bulletin
Years before, she had been a prison guard
And had left a lasting impression
On one of the more psychotic inmates
So lasting in fact, that he would kill to be with her
He had been an annoying little swine
And had threatened to slit her throat before
So long ago now
That she had almost completely forgotten him
Had she been at work
She would have known
That this man who haunted her
Had escaped from the psychiatric facility he was in
A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link
And unfortunately that link
Had been a guard who got shanked
In the back with a homemade shiv
So she had no way of knowing
That he knew exactly where she lived
Where she hid her key
And where she liked to walk at night...
Part 2 coming soon....
