With eager eyes they look at the toys.
Then tug at their mother’s arm.
“I want this and I want that.”
Their little voices say.
Their mother smiles and nods.
“But you’ll have to wait until Christmas Day.”
Behind her smile is sadness.
Knowing she can’t afford all they see.
But hopes that they will be happy.
With whatever they receive.
