After months of unrest, more violent clashes erupt in Jerusalem between Palestinians and Israeli Border Police.
Overnight, a police watch tower was also attacked with Molotov cocktails in the east Jerusalem district of Shoafat.
At the center of the current dispute -- the al-Aqsa compound, Jerusalem's holiest site -- known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary, to Jews as the Temple Mount.
For decades, Israel has maintained a ban on Jews praying there.
But some on the far-right are campaigning to change that.
Now Muslim worshippers are angry at what they see as an assault on the Islamic-run shrine.
...And violent demonstrations are spilling into the occupied West Bank.
Last week, Israel shut down all access to al-Aqsa for the first time in more than a decade, after a Palestinian gunman shot an Israeli ultranationalist.
