Goodbye to the poetry
Farewell to the bards
Adios to the Good Questions
And to the deck of cards
To pieces have broken you, shards
Of an outlet too easy to farce
Similes, alliteration,
Rhyming cannot compare
To the touch of a lover
Or the sweet smell of country air
Don't make others happy
And only myself to scare
Leave me alone,
Don't come crying back
One more time round the track
These sonnets tend to distract
From the importance of SAYING
What you feel, not delaying
What you still
Need to say, and do
Look what I have come to
Writing poetry on poetry
Why write strange just to gain notary
Metaphors, hidden meanings, double
Only lead to heartache and trouble
Had enough of this 'barney rubble'
Like an addiction
I have to write the next line
'Or it wont make sense' a lie
Because you can't make sense,
From making verse on false pretence
(Which leads me to my quandary hence)
Do I want or need you poetry?
A cruel mistress, a boundless sea
My ship a-stranded, no help for me
But a pen in my hand, and pulp from a tree
