Kathryn Miller - Grandmother

She taught me how to cook,
She taught me how to sew,
I have always thought of my grandmother as…
A rather strong woman,
Who could withstand the toughest wind,
Until one day they told me,
She had had two strokes and couldn’t smile again,
I know you may think “well she still loved you”,
But I cried until there were no more tears,
I wept until my body shook,
Because even though I knew she could feel it,
She could never show happiness again,
She could never smile,
She couldn’t spread her laughter,
Like she had before,
At first I was mad,
But that all changed very soon,
Because I became sad,
My grandmother passed away,
When I was a very small child,
I remember little but her smile,
And I hope that she is smiling down on me from above.
