My jaw has been aching all day
With their slow deliberate ascent.
They mark me, my dissolute way.
Make felt their knowing dissent.
I bear them quietly, and I listen
To their inaudible reminiscence.
Embrace the contrition they christen
And await their lenient quittance.
Knowing that they are a part of me
As much as hands, elbows, sensation.
Not corrupted by time or enmity.
They offer a release, from perdition.
