Herbert Nehrlich - Just Thoughts

Oh, that the common man would grow a brain,
to see and hear, digest official fare.
No rhyme or reason and 'I do not care',
mankind, the victim of those crafty devils.
As all integrity has sunk with the big ship
the stench of treason now pervades on many levels.
It is as if we'd signed up for a happy trip
into the darkness of uncertainty and death,
leaving behind compassion and our human face
and flying high above the clouds with dwindling breath.
As in this ah, so modern and pathetic race
we've managed to destroy the goodness of our food
and lifted onto pedestals of golden recognition
those managers of chemicals who influence our mood
and tell us that society is ill, but in remission.

And to the Reaper we shall say 'we welcome you today',
we've surely failed the basic test of conscious living,
'so, help yourself and have a feast, do take us all away.
We are devoid of reason now and way beyond Thanksgiving.'
