(believing my poems have been too subjective,
I'm going to try to stay out of this one)

*****
A man sat at a cafe':
say, that man over there.

No, he's getting up.
How 'bout you,
over against the wall,
wearing the orange cap?

I can't see what you're reading—
(WAIT—KEEP YOURSELF OUT OF THE POEM!)
The man was reading something.
He was deep in concentration.

Another man's body
blocked a certain person's
(WATCH IT, YOU'RE ON THIN ICE THERE!)
view of the book.

The man who blocked the view
had one of those disarming, nerdy faces.
He was with his wife and child.
Now they all got up and left, too.

The man in the orange cap,
it turns out, was reading
his laptop screen,
and typing.

What do you want him to be typing, reader? (choose one) :
a) an e-mail to his wife
b) a report on construction costs, for work
c) a post to a discussion group about sports
d) a humorous novel

Did you enjoy participating? __yes __no

ps: This is not the type of poem I usually write
(HEY! KEEP YOURSELF OUT OF THE *#%&@ POEM!)
