Uriah Hamilton - If You Lift Your Skirt

Reality today is a sunless chasm
Impossible to climb,
A smooth wall smeared with grease,
A punishment from trickster gods
Exiled from ancient Greece…

Love parades in gaudy clothes
But exits before minute and meaningful pleasure,
Everything is a Judas kiss
Inviting a slow walk and a crucifix.

But if you lift your skirt,
I’ll do my best to make things fit,
I’ll be imaginative and elaborate
In mingling the poisons I secrete
In this treacherous existence.
