The superstars unfurled
their laden routine – the organ
player stabbing his amplifiers
with daggers, the lead guitarist
flopping around onstage in
a rock and roll seizure
Turning upwards
my teenage eyes strummed the
power chords of stars and light years
and let all light move outwards
in all directions from each star
Now I bring my daughter – the one
with rhythm - to her canned
pre-packaged overpriced lipsync-fest
with a superstar and dancing pepsi signs
Looking up I see the light
that has been traveling
on its way here since well before
my teenage eyes looked upwards
and now it has arrived
just in time for this
