Upon this holy Cross of wood,
The Savior Jesus Christ was crucified!
He died for sins of all mankind:
Heaven to men can’t be denied.
Upon this holy site there stood
The holy Cross that bore the Redeemer;
He suffered unto death for not his faults,
Obeying what His father told!
Upon this holy land there walked
A man called Jesus, Son of God;
He showed the world that love is prime
And forgiveness is greater than the rod!
Upon this holy mount of Calvary,
Fell Jesus thrice, carrying his heavy Cross;
They whipped and smote on his face, dragging him,
Scarcely clothed, barefooted because
He spoke in parables about a world,
From which He came and reigned as King
Of Kings and Lord of Lords!
And Jesus was his name!
He’d come a second time in glory, not in shame;
And take the Righteous back from whence He came,
And throw all devils/wicked souls to Hell-
The Fire none can tame!
