Thursday, protesters angry at Compaore's attempt to amend the constitution set fire to parliament. Following the protests, Compaore agreed not to seek another term, but said he would remain in power until a transitional government had completed its work in 2015. The army has stepped in to take temporary power; they say for 12 hours. The opposition say Compaore's resignation is non-negotiable, and that the military's actions are a coup. They are calling on the nation's citizens to occupy the streets and public buildings.
