In-depth reports and analysis from our extensive network of correspondents throughout the region on the most important developments in the Americas. Today's program addresses the issue of the requirement that voters have a valid photo ID in order to cast a ballot, as stipulated in 34 US states. In Virginia, this new requirement will eliminate 200,000 voters who do not have a driver's license, the most common form of ID. Supporters of the measure say it's to prevent election fraud. Critics charge that there are virtually no cases of such fraud at the polls and that the move is, in fact, aimed at disenfranchising minorities and the poor. teleSUR
