An off-duty California Highway Patrol officer recently stumbled upon more than 120 thousand dollars lying in the middle of a roadway in Concord, California.

The woman had been on her way home in her personal car when she spotted the two bank deposit bags.

She had to swerve to avoid running them over. She then turned the car around to see what was inside the bags.

The CHP officer opened them up to see they were loaded with 100 dollar bills. She immediately notified the police of the discovery and turned the money in.

Officers later located the man who owns the cash and it turns out, what's in those bags is his life savings. As for the 20-year CHP veteran, well, she says it was just the right thing to do.

She remarked, "I am paid to uphold the law and it's my job to set the example whether I'm working or not."

She hopes this incident will help teach her own children a valuable lesson about integrity.
