Police are investigating the deaths of a man and woman in Farmingdale, New York. Her head was said to be severed while he was fatally struck by a train.
The body of the decapitated female was located outside a local apartment complex at approximately 8 in the evening on Tuesday. Less than half an hour after the discovery, law enforcement officials received a call from The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, informing them that a male had been hit by a train roughly 1,000 feet away from the first scene.
Police are now looking into whether or not the incidents are related, as part of a murder-suicide. According to reports, the man, who was in his 30s, jumped in front of the moving train.
Passengers who were onboard at the time were loaded onto a different train. Investigators initially thought the gruesome scenes were a Halloween prank.
At this point, detectives believe the two individuals may be mother and son and the deaths could be the result of a domestic issue.
Local residents are left in shock over the incidents. One man told CBS New York “This is a very family oriented place. Never would have imagined or would think this would have happened in Farmingdale.”
