There used to be some monkeys here,
and I know they're still around,
though no one ever sees them
and they never make a sound.

Some mangos fall and are half-chewed;
no little bird pecks, these,
but little tooth-marks, monkey size
from somewhere in the trees.

One of these days I'll get a glimpse,
and then you'll hear me call:
'I told you so! Right there they are!
They're not gone after all! '
