No matter how famous a person is or how much money they have, there are still certain things in life that can’t be avoided. Take trips to the DMV as an example.

Robert Downey Jr. recently visited the Santa Monica branch to renew his driver’s license. Photos of the outing show him looking about excited as anyone else would be.

The ‘Iron Man’ star did, however, stand out in the building, as he was all decked out for the excursion. The 49-year-old actor donned a suit and tie.

Staffers seemed to be thrilled to have Downey right on their own turf. He even got some special VIP treatment, as he went behind a desk and probed around to see how things are handled at the DMV.

Aside from the little tour, Downey also had to partake in the usual stuff. He stood on the other side of the desk for the renewal process and posed in front of the plain background for his license photo.

The actor later posted about the visit on Twitter. He typed up a note that reads “Gettin' my renewal on at the Santa Monica DMV.”
