Pictures show the extent of the destruction from a landslide in southwestern Yunnan province.

After days of torrential rain, a hillside gave way on Tuesday, crushing the workshop of a mining company down below.

Now rescue workers are racing against time to find nine workers trapped under the heaps of mud and boulders.

The news reports say more than 400 rescuers and ten extractors have been deployed to the site.

But more rain and the threat of more landslides are hampering the progress of the rescue effort.

Despite a non-stop 24-hour search -- there have been no sign of any survivors.
