Mass graves pile on high
As politicians wage wars
And soldiers die
Fathers, sons, brothers in arms
Are all sent abroad
To protect our lands
Letters written home had meaning then
And are passed down in boxes with heirlooms
Until they are found once again
An eager descendent wanting to learn
About war hero’s and ancestors
Who’s respect he has earned
For keeping their memory alive
And reading their letters home
So their name can once again thrive.
