Within this lair I find myself
Within the depths of my despair
And yet this life seems a little unfair
Unyielding faith that lies in wait
How is it now that I hesitate
Snowflakes fall from yielding skies
Like the teardrops falling from my eyes
My mortal legacy the written word
By which I read and what I’ve heard
Glimpses of what I felt within this realm
Overwhelmed by what I’ve said and done
Beneath the light of yon golden sun
For here I stand, kind-hearted one
Beneath the shadow of this thumb
Applauding none that have stood before
Where now the echoes of a lions roar
As the ship set sail for distant shores
