ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday unearthed smuggling of gold worth billions of rupees from Pakistan through forged custom documents. Taking notice, Interior Minister directed the FIA to thoroughly investigate the case, Dunya News reported.

According to the details, smuggling of gold worth Rs 35 billion was unearthed during FIA Sindh Zone’s investigation. This gold was being smuggled through the forged custom documents.

The FIA has taken at least four suspects into custody liked to the case.

Reportedly, the gold traders from Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore are involved in this mega scandal.

The Director General (DG) FIA Ghalib Bandesha met the Governor State Bank to widen the scope of the investigation.

Following the FIA’s investigation, some jewelers have become active to try to influence the investigation. The federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar directed FIA to complete the investigation of mega scandal without giving in to any pressure.
