On Thursday October 23rd, a partial solar eclipse will be visible in North America, including most of the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Solar eclipses happening during a New Moon occur when the lunar satellite comes between the Earth and the sun, blocking out some of the light.

With this being a partial one, only some of the sunlight will be blocked as the moon’s passing isn’t in complete alingment.

For this upcoming eclipse, most people will see between 40 to 65 percent of the sun being covered, depending on where the eclipse is viewed from.

If the skies are clear throughout the afternoon and evening, at different times across the US, people will be able to look up a the gradual solar eclipse.

The far northeast coast of North America will be excluded from viewing the eclipse, because the sun will have already set on the geographic line that runs from Quebec to Montauk Point, New York.

Anyone planning to watch the solar eclipse should take the necessary precautions to protect their eyes from being damaged by the ultraviolet rays of the sun.
