STORY: Pro-democracy protesters near the Hong Kong government headquarters clashed with police for the second night in a row in the early hours of Thursday (October 16) after barricades were removed from nearby Lung Wo Road.

Several dozen police officers used pepper on a crowd of over one hundred protesters as they attempted to push the police line back.

Protesters sported open umbrellas in their defense as police blocked the students just before entering Lung Wo Road.

They attempted the same tactics throughout late Wednesday and early Thursday but failed due to police efforts to seal off the road.

As of 3:30 AM local time (17:30 GM), several dozen protesters stood cornered by police officers in front of Lung Wo Road.

Police paramedics and volunteer first aid teams for pro-democracy protesters said that several protesters were injured in early Thursday's clashes.
