Comedian Billy Eichner, who has made man on the street interviews his signature bit, is accusing Burger King of copying him.
The ad in question features an interviewer asking a couple of people fast food related questions.
It’s done in a hurried and somewhat abrasive manner that’s akin to Eichner’s ‘Billy on the Street’ character.
Some have commented that they fail to see any likenesses beyond superficial and generic commonalities, but Eichner isn’t among them.
He’s taken to Twitter to share his feelings on the matter.
One of his early posts about the spots read, “Hey @BurgerKing-thanks for stealing my act for ur new commercial!! Except its not as funny & everyone knows u stole it. GET YOUR OWN IDEAS.”
He also requested that the chain stop making people morbidly obese.
Eichner’s fellow comedic celebrities have come to his aid, joining in the Twitter campaign as well.
Seth Rogen suggested that Burger King go back to doing what they’re good at – giving him diarrhea.
Michael Ian Black questioned the restaurant’s decision to go with an unknown actor, as he was available to perform the ‘rip off’.
Burger King has reportedly not responded to media requests for a comment.
