Focus on children as Pakistani teen, Indian activist win Nobel Peace Prize

The focus is on children as the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to an Indian children's rights advocate and a 17-year old Pakistani education activist.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) NOBEL COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN, THORBJOERN JAGLAND, SAYING:

"Ladies and gentleman, good morning. The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2014 is to be awarded to Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai."

Kailash Satyarthi, who founded the Save the Childhood Movement in the 1980s and has defended the rights of some 80,000 children, says the prize if for all who help those who can't help themselves.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) NOBEL PEACE PRIZE WINNER, KAILASH SATYARTHI, SAYING:

"It's a great honor for all those children who are deprived of their childhood globally, it's an honor to all my fellow Indians who have got this honor. It's not just an honor for me, it's an honor for all those who were fighting against child labor globally."
