Islamic State insurgents are being attacked from all angles in Kobani. And here, on the frontline, video obtained from a social media website shows Arabic FSA fighters joining the battle.. attempting to push the militants out of the town.

But it's an uphill struggle. Observers say Islamic State has seized a third of the town, and is tightening its grip.

Aerial bombardments from U.S.-led coalition aircraft are slowing, but not stopping the advance. And just across the border, Turkish forces keep watch but do nothing to defend the town.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu says it's not practical for Turkey to put boots on the ground:
