On Sunday afternoon, a male paraglider was rescued in San Diego after he collided with cliffs. The accident occurred in an area about 100 feet above Black's Beach.

Concerned witnesses dialed 911 to get the 47-year-old male help. An official with the San Diego Lifeguards remarked “It was a paraglider that had run into the cliff still attached to his paraglider and that is always a risk because if the wind picks up, then it can move the paraglider.”

A helicopter was recruited to hoist the man up. Once he was safely lifted, the male was flown to Scripps Memorial Hospital.

Reportedly, he encountered severe lower back injuries. He was also said to be experiencing hip pain.

The man is from the UK and may not be familiar with wind conditions in San Diego. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, however the man does have prior paragliding experience.

He had been part of a group of paragliders who are touring various places in the U.S.
