On Monday turkish forces used tear gas and water cannons to push back Kurds who were apparently trying to approach the sealed border with Syria. Some of the refugees of the conflict reported atrocities that included stonings, beheadings and the torching of homes.
Turkey’s deputy prime minister said on Monday that the number of Syrian refugees who have reached Turkey in the past four days after fleeing the advance of Islamic State militants now totalled 130,000.
