A man in Orange County, New York will soon be reunited with his long lost pooch. More than two years ago, Giuseppe DiBella’s then 6-month-old puppy named Nika was reportedly stolen from his home.
In May of 2012, DiBella was outside doing yard work in front of his residence. While his attention was focused on his property, somebody went around to the backyard and snatched the 3-pound fox terrier.
When DiBella realized his puppy was gone, he called police, contacted local animal shelters and posted missing dog notices around his neighborhood and on social media. After a year of looking for her with no luck, he started to lose hope of ever seeing her again and obtained another dog.
Last week, he got a call informing him Nika is alive and well. She is in Florida, over 1,000 miles away from DiBella’s home.
Nika was reportedly found outside a house in Ocala. She was taken to a veterinary office, where staffers learned she has a microchip.
Nika will be staying with a friend of DiBella’s in Florida until Thanksgiving when she will once again get to see her true owner.
