Just three months after floods devastated parts of the region and claimed dozens of lives, more heavy rains are now swamping northwestern Bosnia.

Hundreds of homes are at risk.

Residents say that when they saw the waters rising, they had flashbacks of the previous flood.

(SOUNDBITE) (Bosnian) IZETA PELIC, RESIDENT OF PRIJEDOR, SAYING:

"Last time the water was one meter high, you can still see the marks on the wall of the house. We all started panicking when we saw it coming again. Last night we put some sand in the bags to protect the entrance to the house at least."

Locals say authorities aren't doing enough to help prevent the local Sana River from flooding their houses.

So far, no deaths or injuries have been reported.

The worst flooding in Balkan history hit in May, killing more than 40 people and prompting the evacuation of tens of thousands.
