A rare double bout of strong solar storms are set to hit Earth on Friday evening.
The highly charged emissions from the sun may prove a spectacle to behold for star gazers, with solar flares providing a glimpse into their power and reach. But they’re also forecast to interfere with radio communications and GPS signals.
Storms of a similar magnitude regularly reach Earth, but rarely in such quick succession.
Some of the best views will likely be had near the North and South poles, with the event set to produce memorable Aurora displays.
