For years, the northern French city of Calais has been a transit point for some of the world's most desperate people: migrants from countries like Syria, Eritrea, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Fleeing war or economic misery, they risk their lives to try to reach the United Kingdom. But the number of illegal immigrants trying to cross the Channel has now reached an all-time high.

While some locals want to help the migrants, others have had enough. We take a closer look at the explosive mix that’s brewing in Calais.
