Cops may look tough on the outside, but many of them have extremely soft hearts. A police officer in Indianapolis is now getting quite a bit of favorable attention for his interaction with a homeless man.

The cop was on duty at the time and he stopped to give the underprivileged male a gift in the form of footwear.

It was certainly a sweet thought. One that probably would have gone unnoticed, had it not been for NBA star Roy Hibbert.

What the cop didn’t know was that Hibbert, who is a Pacers center, was watching from the background and snapped a photo of the encounter.

Hibbert posted the picture on his Instagram account with a caption that notes “Just seen an Indy police officer pull over. Go into his trunk n give a homeless guy a pair of shiny boots.”

The poor man, who was holding a sign, seemed to admire his new boots as the officer walked back towards his patrol car.

It’s unclear who the cop is, but the department shared the image on its facebook page, indicating that his co-workers and supervisors are proud of him.
