If I ever do saltwater again (not likely) I do recommend hermit crabs. They're so odd and do a great job at cleaning up the tank! I had a nice shrimp too, he'd clean my hand when I was doing maintenance.

Well the paper is pretty porous, so that's not going to stop any germs anyway. Also it's my ass. I wipe off the seat because sitting in wetness or a pile of pubes would obviously be gross but other than that my ass is never really going to be that clean. If you think the toilet seat is any cleaner or dirtier than anything else you've touched that day you're lying to yourself. You picked up more germs opening the door to the office building or touching that dollar bill to get your morning coffee. Germs are everywhere. Sanitize your hands when you can and that's about all you can do.
