Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan should reconcile with government instead of ‘begging’ the protestors.
Addressing joint session of the parliament, Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan is facing fresh crisis due to a group of four politicians. Common Pakistanis have refused to become part of this conspiracy.
He said opposition benches are respected more than the government benches.
The minister condemns Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Tahirul Qadri’s remarks against opposition leader Khurshid Shah.
Whole world is laughing at us, he added.
Ahsan Iqbal said a committee of the house should be formed to determine punishment for those who stormed the parliament.
He said it is first time in a democratic era that a group of protesters stormed parliament and other state buildings.
“With this the protesters wanted to send a message to the world that Pakistani state has become dysfunctional,” he added.
The PML-N leader said protesting groups have tarnished the image of the country through their provocative acts. However, the unity shown by all segments of the society in response to the crisis has foiled the conspiracies of the PTI and PAT.
He criticized the protesting leaders for polluting the political discourse of the country through their abusive and derogatory speeches.
"In Urdu medium revolution, Tahirul Qadri speaks about blood while in English medium reovlution he speaks about peace" Ahsan Iqbal said.
He said Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan cannot do any harm to the democracy even if they hold sit-in for the next 100 years.
