President Barack Obama is vowing justice for those responsible for executing American journalist James Foley.
Speaking to veterans at the American Legion National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, the president said "America does not forget" and the country will do whatever it takes to capture people who harm Americans.
Obama called ISIL a cancer that won't be easy or quick to root out. But he says the U.S. will take direct action where needed to protect citizens and defend the homeland.
His statement comes as the U.S. is preparing military options, including surveillance flights, to pressure Islamic State in Syria.
