Ivory Coast closes western land border over Ebola threat

On the streets of Abidjan, in Ivory Coast, residents go about their business -- mindful of the deadly Ebola outbreak that's ravaging their neighbors Guinea and Liberia.

"Really it's difficult, it's scary, it's terrifying, with all the rumors going around it's terrifying."

A day ago, the World Health Organization said the Ebola outbreak -- the world's deadliest ever -- is even bigger than first thought;

It may take up to nine months to stop the epidemic, it said.

Now, Ivory Coast is taking further action against Ebola's spread.

It's closed its land borders with Guinea and Liberia -- but not everyone thinks that's going far enough.

(SOUNDBITE) (French) LAB TECHNICIAN, ROMARIC KOUADIO, SAYING:

'We should maybe go door-to-door, informing the population, telling them this is a serious illness, there is no vaccine yet, you must be careful.''
