Bao Bao the panda celebrated her first birthday on Saturday (August 23) at the Smithsonian National Zoo.

The panda bear climbed around her yard chewing on bamboo while fans gathered in the viewing areas.

Bao Bao is just over 40 pounds and "was one of 42 surviving cubs born last year," according to the Smithsonian website.
