Lord Krishna is well known for His cute mischieveous acts during childhood. His naughty behaviour and adorable words pleased everyone around Him. People called Him Natkhat Bal Gopaal.
Krishna was very fond of butter. This bhajan, 'Maiya Mori' is about how Lord Krishna, on being caught while having butter, trys to convince His mother Yashoda of not stealing and eating the butter, in a notorious way.
Janmashtami, also known as 'Krishna Jayanti' or 'Gokulashtami' marks the arrival of the natkhat Bal Gopaal with His Godly flute to our land. This festival is auspicious as it is the day on which Lord Krishna was born.Janmashtami is the amalgamation of two words, 'Janma' and 'Ashtami'. This symbolizes that Lord Krishna was born on Ashtami (eighth day) of Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the month of Shraavan. This day is celebrated in honour of Lord Krishna by singing devotional songs and krishna bhajans and arranging for grand celebrations which include Dahi Handi, Raas Leela, etc.
