Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra deva and sister devi Subhadra is carried out in Puri and all over India. Every year in the month of Asadha (June or July) this Yatra is carried out.
Jagannath is considered to be an Avatar of Vishnu by Hindus while Buddhist considers him to be the Avatar of Buddha. This Rath Yatra is considered very sacred and auspicious and devotees from all around the world gather in Puri to pull these Raths and take their deities blessing. However, the devotees with full enthusiasm celebrate the festival across the country.
This year also the capital city Delhi, celebrated the festival with great devotion at Tyagraj Nagar Jagannath temple, in front of Tyagraj stadium, Delhi. The chariot had been beautifully decorated with beautiful flowers, sparkling lights and crafts of Pipli. A huge number of devotees participated in the yatra and showed their devotion to lord Jagannath in their own way. Different forms of traditional folk dances were performed by the devotees during the entire yarta.
The Rath Yatra started from the Temple at 3 PM and went to 3 Kms covering places like Safdarjung Bus Terminal, Vikash sadan, INA market, Delhi Haat via Aurobindo Marg and will return to the temple by 6 PM in the evening. The chariot has been beautifully decorated with beautiful flowers, sparkling lights and crafts of Pipli.
