Devotees gather at Siddheshwar temple to celebrate Shri Siddheshwar Maharaj Yatra

The Siddheshwar Temple is an iconic temple situated in the middle of a beautiful lake and is surrounded by water on all sides. It is ranked as the most picturesque tourist spots in the entire city of Solapur.The temple was constructed by Sri Mallikarjuna's devoted disciple. Sri Mallikarjuna belonged to Srisailam from Shri Siddharamehswar. The idol of Siddheshwar signifies the holy incarnation of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu who went by the same name.The lake that the temple is located upon is the Siddheshwar Lake and consists of three gates that allow you to enter the courtyard on the inside of the temple. Nearby lies a luscious green garden that houses a small shrine dedicated to Saint Nalatwad. The temple complex also accommodates a few shrines built in worship of Lord Vithoba and Goddess Rukmini.The temple is worth at least one visit while you're in Solapur.

Shri Siddheshwar Maharaj Yatra conducted in Solapur in January every year. Various types of ceremonyies are offered to Lord Siddheshwar Maharaj.

Siddheshwar (or Siddarama or Siddarameswara) was one among the many acharya of Lingayat (Veerashaivism). He was a great mystic and a Kannada poet who was a part of Basavanna's Veerashaiva revolution during the 12th century. Siddharama[1] claims to have written 68,000 vachanas out of which 1379 are in existence. Basavanna, Allama Prabhu, Devara Dasimayya, Channabasava, Siddharama (1150)are regarded as the most acknowledged and respected poets. Vachanakaras wrote in the genre of Veerashaivas,under Kannada literature from the mystic period. His philosophy was one of service to mankind, the path of karmayoga.

Siddheshwar shares the world view of other vachana poets in his rejection of blind conventions of caste and sex discrimination and emphasis on realization through personal experience. He too borrows Metaphors from diverse spheres of everyday life. Apart from vachanas,he has written several devotional works in tripadi. writing three-line verse, used from 7th century.
