Following a strong gust of wind, a baby in a carriage was blown onto the tracks of the London Underground.
The British Transport Police published images of a terrifying incident from last month. Following a strong gust of wind, a baby in a carriage was blown onto the tracks of the London Underground.
The wind swept through the station right after a departing train took off. The baby had been left at the bottom of stairs in between two platforms.
The man who put the carriage there had bolted back up the stairs to help another family member get down. During the short amount of time he was gone, the wind blew the stroller right across and over the platform. It landed on the tracks.
The mother realized what happened in the knick of time. She ran across the platform and jumped onto the tracks to save her child.
The mom managed to lift her baby up, push the carriage onto the platform and get herself off the tracks moments before a train pulled in. Police have released footage of the incident to urge parents to be careful and for help in identifying the mother and child to ensure they weren’t injured.
A spokesperson commented “This was a frightening incident, not just for the scale of the danger the child was exposed to, but also because the woman then put her own life on the line by going on to the tracks.”
