Devika S.R. is in 8th standard of St. Shantal Senior Secondary School, Trivandrum, Kerala. Her father is Mr. Sreekantan Nair and he works as an Excise inspector and her mother is Ms. Rajitha K.S, an Electronic Engineer. She says "I am a continuous scorer of A+ grade and always get first/second position in my studies. I participate in arts and literary competitions and exhibitions conducted at school level as well as outside and had won many prizes. My ambition is to become a Space Scientist. I am hard working, sincere and determined which helps me a lot to hit the goals in my life".

Devika S.R. from St. Shantal Senior Secondry School, Thiruvananthapuram is talking about Neela kurni / Neelakurinji flowers in Munnar during an event organised by INTACH.

Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana), is a shrub that used to grow abundantly in the shola grasslands of the Western Ghats in South India above 1800 metres. The Nilgiri Hills, which literally means the blue mountains, got their name from the purplish blue flowers of Neelakurinji that blossoms gregariously only once in 12 years. The Paliyan tribal people apparently used it to calculate their age.

Munnar is a hill station on the Western Ghats, a range of mountains situated in the Idukki district of the Indian state of Kerala.
